Reverse Osmosis Plants |

| Reverse Osmosis is a high pressure membrane process that rejects practically all undissolved and dissolved impurities present in water. The permeate dissolve in very low concentration in organic salts. Plant and animal cells are covered on the outside by a semi permeable membrane that allows water and nutrients to permeate into the cell and rejects macro molecule. The process is selective in the sense that the solvent passes through the membrane at a faster rate than the dissolved solids. The difference of passage rate results in solvent solids separation. The direction of solvent flow is determined by its chemical potential, which is a function of pressure, temperature, and concentration of dissolved solids. |
